A strong reputation in classic car restoration is built by having the right people who deliver a great service to valued customers.
This is a guiding ethos at Clayton Classics and instrumental to our gradual, and successful, growth over the past two decades.
It was also a topic recently discussed by Clayton’s director Dean Allsop when he hosted Paddy Coppinger, presenter of the HCVA’s Heritage Matters podcast, at our Coventry headquarters.
HAVING THE RIGHT SKILLSET IS CRUCIAL
Indeed, Clayton Classics is very proud of our skilled team and of the investment we’ve put into our people to attract, and develop, the right talent.
It is the recruitment of someone with the right skills, while obviously beneficial for our clients, that allows Clayton Classics to grow.
For example, having technicians in the bodyshop, with the skills at the level we require, became a force to promote the bodyshop side of the business, and likewise for the paint shop and other areas of Clayton Classics.
Just recently, we’ve welcomed a new design engineer who will add expertise to our kit designs as well as help increase our heating, ventilation and air conditioning product ranges.
It’s testament to the fact we’ve expanded as a result of the right people coming to work for us.
fAITH IN THE FUTURE

Of course, the right people crucially includes encouraging aspiring apprentices, who have a passion for restoring and repairing classic cars, to fulfil their potential with full support and guidance.
Over the years, we have provided a number of apprenticeships and we’re currently very fortunate to have another talented apprentice on board from the Heritage Skills Academy at Bicester Heritage.
Thanks to their time at the Skills Academy, our apprentice already has a solid understanding of what’s required in classic car restoration, rather than coming to us at the very start of their career.
This approach is also beneficial for Clayton Classics as the individual continues to spend one week every month at the Skills Academy, exposing them to different techniques and technologies, which might come in useful at our Coventry headquarters.
EXCELLENCE ACROSS ALL AREAS IN CLASSIC CAR RESTORATION

Investment in our team is a vital element in delivering a first-class service.
It’s as important as the investment we place in developing, and testing, our state-of-the-art heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems.
These bespoke, upgraded air conditioning systems have been developed and tested around the world in extreme classics.
Meanwhile, the installation of a modern bespoke climate control system, designed for the vehicle and that fits seamlessly, offers greater dependability and improved efficiency – an important factor for potential buyers.
