A restoration has the power to produce some truly wonderful creations, so once completed it makes perfect sense to protect what has been lovingly crafted through the correct classic car maintenance.
This includes regular checks, as well as exploring the opportunity to consider further upgrades, such as the installation of a bespoke heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system (HVAC) if this was not fitted as part of the restoration.
To help, we have shared our top tips so you can keep your classic car in its best condition following a restoration.

frequent checks for tyres, fluids and Fuels
Tyre pressure should be checked once a month to ensure tyres are adequately inflated.
Tread depth should also be looked at, and while the legal tread depth minimum for cars in the UK is 1.6mm, the minimum tread depth often recommended by tyre and safety experts is 3mm.
Regular checks should also be carried out on the car’s vital fluids, such as the oil, coolant, and brake fluids.
Additionally, it is a good option to replace any contaminated or old fluids with fresh ones. Putting a fuel stabiliser in the fuel tank will also help protect against fuel degradation, reducing moisture build-up.
Of course, it almost goes without saying, that keeping the car clean, both inside and out, will keep it aesthetically pleasing and a pleasure to drive.

good storage
A storage location should be dry and well-ventilated as this will help prevent rust.
The ideal place would be inside a garage, but if this is not possible then think about a breathable outdoor car cover to wrap over the car if it is outside – but remember to remove the cover during a dry spell to help air the car out.
A breathable fabric cover should also be considered for inside storage to help shield the car from scratches and dust.

regular service for classic car maintenance
Classic cars that are regularly serviced are more likely to stay in their best condition and keep their value, an important consideration if it is likely to be resold.
Servicing can also actually save money for owners in the long run by spotting issues before they become too expensive, or too late, to fix.

upgrade your classic car air conditioning system
A bespoke heating and air conditioning system, with modern performance and authentic, discreet styling, is a sensible option following a restoration if the car did not benefit from this upgrade at the time.
Our systems provide comfortable temperatures all year round inside the cabin and can keep the car dry and demisted in wet conditions – which can be hugely beneficial for your classic car maintenance.
These systems fit in seamlessly with the rest of the vehicle and can be reversed at a later date to return the car to its original condition, an important factor if considering a potential resale.
